Samsung Reveals Powerful 8-Core Processor for Smartphones

Samsung unveiled at the 2013 International CES on Wednesday its latest processor for smartphones, the Exynos 5 Octa. The company says this new processor delivers twice the performance of its predecessor, Samsung's Exynos 4 Quad. This means new phones from Samsung are going to be noticeably faster.

Announced by Dr. Stephen Woo, president of device solutions for Samsung, the processor includes two sets of four cores each. "It's also smart enough to save energy when running certain tasks, too," Woo said. Samsung said it is focusing on three areas: processing, memory and display technology. "There are more than 6 billion mobile devices in use and more than a half a billion smartphones sold. As users become more attached to devices, they become more sophisticated in their devices. They notice a difference in weight, size and form factor."

What is driving these advancements? Their components," Woo said to a packed room. "As a consumer you don't think about components often, but that is okay ... if you want to see where the real action is and where the industry is going, you have to pull back that layer to where the magic happens. We believe the right component DNA drives innovation and discovery."

SanDisk Cruzer Fit CZ33 32GB USB Flash Drive (SDCZ33-032G-B35)

It's so small I lay awake at night wondering where I put it. When I vacuum the carpet I have constant panic attacks. When I drink my milk I fear I swallowed it. Then there's the cat! AAAAHHRrrrrggg! Other than that, it's an awesome little thumb drive. I boot Linux from it and store tons of files. So small, so sneaky. Mine came in a blister pack, in a little padded envelope in my mailbox.

I bought this small usb drive to use in my truck. I have a usb plug for music, but I was always worried it would get bumped and break the usb connection in the dash. This sits so tight that I am not worried about knocking into it. As with any Sandisk product, it works great. I was also glad that the small plastic part sticking out of the connection is tapered so you get a nice grip for easy removal.

Kingston Digital 16 GB USB 2.0 Hi-speed Datatraveler Flash Drive DT101G2/16GBZ, Black

I use thumb drives for various reasons from a portable OS, OS and System tools recovery, and performance boosters. I can say this drive gives you bang for you buck. I know price has a a lot to do with the Class speed category of the memory used in thumb drives. And for the price I paid (just over $10), I cannot complain. The speed is decent, has a nifty Kingston app on it that allows you to install other popular free apps and games right to it (something I wasn't aware of from Kingston). 8gig for just over $10, you can't go wrong with this purchase. I normally don't rate things 5star, but it also has a built in activity light which is a bonus, so it gets a 5.
